Echuca East Community Precinct Project

Echuca East Community Precinct Project

The goal: Create an active community play space that will improve the health and wellbeing of the local community.

Imagination Play was engaged to develop a new playground that complimented the wider outdoor recreation space as part of a redevelopment of the Echuca East Community Precinct to create facilities that better meet the community’s needs.

The precinct is used for many activities by the Echuca East community, including general use, school care and holiday programs, community events, sports, and many others. The new playground had to incorporate the needs of the whole community.

The concept: An accessible and sustainable playground

Considering the needs and wants of the local community, Imagination Play kept two key ideas at the forefront of their playground design: accessibility and sustainability.

The space needed to be inclusive of all ages and abilities, ensuring that all children who visited the precinct could enjoy it.

The playground was designed to complement the surrounding landscape and respect the environment by incorporating sustainable materials.

Imagination Play used its Nature Play range for the rope structures and towers, which are built from 100% sustainably sourced Australian timber.

They also built multiple access points into all areas, ensuring all equipment can be accessed by stairs and ramps. Plus, they included low-to-the-ground equipment to remove accessibility restrictions based on height or mobility.

The result: A place where the landscape helps to shape the play and where kids of all ages and abilities can thrive.

The finished playground is fit for purpose, services the community’s needs, and fits seamlessly into the overall redevelopment project.

It allows local children to play, learn and thrive without restriction.
