What is our Playdium system?

Melbourne Playground Equipment

Playdium systems have a much larger footprint than the conventional 1m2 deck systems. This allows for our play units to be much safer by providing more movement and equipment interaction space for it’s users. Our Playdium system works on a standardized modular system to maximise design possibilities while simplifying the installation process reducing both time and cost.

The Playdium system works uses a standard grid size at 1.2m x 1.2m. An overhead ring trek for example is 2.4m long X 1.2m wide, making our system 33% larger than all of our major competitors

All of our rotomolded LDPE plastic panels are of a one-piece construction. The nice clean finish to our panels ensures product installation is quickened without the need to join multiple parts. All rotomolded panels have been tried and tested for UV stabilization ensuring the colours look brighter for longer.

All steel components, with exception to our decks, stairs and stainless steel fixings are coated in a polyester thermoplastic powdercoat finish. Our powdercoat finish is baked at 220 degrees not the normal 180 degrees. This ensures a stronger durable surface to our steel component with an excellent rate of colour retention and additional protection against corrosion.

The rope elements in our Playdium range feature a steel reinforced Polypropylene multicore rope design that offers unsurpassed strength, long lasting durability and long-term colourfastness to withstand UV degradation.

The use of HDPE extruded plastic panels gives the opportunity to customise Playdium combination units. A range of interactive panels with the option to add your own personal touch.

All Playdium decks and stairs are constructed from 300 Grade Steel with additional support framework weighing in at nearly 60 kilograms each. This is followed by a heavy rubber dipped coating ensuring rust prevention and many years of continuous use.

Round 114mm diameter posts and alloy clamps give a premium look whilst providing a smooth edge reducing head clash injury. Individual clamps give flexibility to adjust heights of monkey bars. Clamps mean no drilling of posts which compromises powder coating and increases the risk of rusting.

HIGH-DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (HDPE) This material is used in most interactive panels with detailed embossed graphics

Pre-School playgrounds generally have a much lower profile with minimal climbing components. Most play items are at ground level to keep younger children safe from falling off from high places. Places you would find this type playground are day-care and Prep play areas.

Primary school playgrounds generally have more traditional static play items such slides, climbers and overheads items. Dynamic items like swings and spring riders are often absent in school playgrounds due to a lack of supervision. School playgrounds for senior kids generally move away from traditional play components like slides and play panels.

Senior school playgrounds are generally more physically demanding to help them develop skills like balance and strength. Playgrounds in public spaces like parks generally have a wider assortment of play items suitable for toddlers, teenagers and everything in between.

Community playgrounds would often have ramps for equal access and seating areas for parental supervision. Playgrounds found in a more privately owned space like caravan parks, hotels and resorts are often themed and custom tailored to best suit the site.

Enclosed playgrounds are designed to have very specific points of access at ground level. This eliminates the need for a 360° space of circulation and could be designed to fit any location of an enclosed space.
